I for one was mad for the zigzag parting back in the 90s, diligently
following the instructions in my Bliss magazine so that I could have a parting
that would perfectly compliment my tufty crimped mane. Reminded of this look by
many, many school photos, I have no intention of sporting the insane, zigzag
parting/crimp combo ever again. The parting however, had been dragged from the
90s and rejuvenated by the likes of Blake Lively and Jessie J, giving hair a
shot of instant cool. Blake demonstrates how the zigzag can be used to create
texture and volume to limp hair, where Jessie, never one to leave anything
looking regular, sees the parting as just another element of her head that can
be made a bit wackier.
Either way, in the words of Jessie J ‘the zigzag parting is back’, so grab something pointy and jump on the easy, totally flattering trend.
We tried out both versions of the parting, Blake's style proved wearable, Jessie's style was perhaps a bit too mickey mouse for every day activities.
