S'mores on a Budget

It's a Monday night and after a rough weekend boozing, balling (more on that to come!) and essay writing we were in desperate need of a pick-me-up. Inspired by Rosie's s'moreos idea we hot-footed to co-op to pick up the necessary bits and bobs - but there weren't any oreos!!! Poor show co-op! Unperturbed we grabbed a family sized packet of Maryland cookies, some Haribo marshmallows and a bar of Galaxy - all for only £3 and these were the beautiful results....

Caroline likes her's topless, I went for the sandwich technique, either way these beauties really hit the spot...

Ballet then a 'drink'

Being a long, thin, beanpole like person, Suzi is of course a ballerina. So Megan and I took ourselves along to her show in the Mitchell Theater to show our support and secretly hope for people to fall over.

The ballet was lovely and Suzi was great in her cheeky little black tutu. Feeling sufficiently cultured, Megan and I decided to go for a post ballet drink, so we trotted off to Bath Street and went to Lucky 7, a canteen and bar, eclectically decorated with globes, maps, chesterfields and with lots of cosy nooks to sit in.

We perched in a comfy window seat with a bottle of red wine, only £13 for the house bottle!

I wore my current favourite alphabet shirt (see previous post), with a chain necklace and high waisted Joni jeans from Topshop.

Making the excequitive decision to commence bottle number two, the night escalated and we went through to the adjoining Flat 0/1, a ridiculously hipster club which poses as a house party, with wallpaper, beds and scruffy furniture of which you would find in an 80's terrace house.

Long story short, we got awfully drunk, Megan got her coat stolen, we went and harassed our respective boys, then I woke up to a voice mail from the police.
Ballet gone bad.

How do you dress for a 'sleet' day?

We are getting some absolutely dire weather at the minute, snow, sleet, and wind yet we're still expected to make it to class at 9am, woe is us. Sleet days aren't a thing unfortunately.

Oh well, I saw it as an opportunity to wear this new alphabet print shirt Ellie and I got for only £12 in Primark!

I teamed it with Ellie's navy cable knit jumper from H&M, my leather mix leggings from Topshop, Primark socks and shoes and my big vintage fur coat. Accessorised with an umbrella, take that Glasgow weather!

Hanoi Bike Shop

Although I see them pretty much every day, my friends and I decided to have an Asia reunion. We traveled across Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia in the summer so a reunion gave us a chance to reminisce without being really annoying ('remember that time in Pai...'), and enjoy failing at eating food with chop sticks again (Megan had to ask for a fork). Hanoi Bike Shop is a kitsch little Vietnamese restaurant in the West End with everything you could want to recreate the Vietnamese experience from plastic stools to paper lanterns. Unfortunately no 18p beer though.

Yummy authentic food without the sweat and noise of the real place.

The Dashing White Sergeant and His Friends...

There's just nothing more Scottish than a ceilidh, and for me being flung round various rooms in Glasgow by men in kilts (oy oy!) is probably the best thing about being at Uni! So here's a post with the do's and don't's of dressing for a ceilidh - it's a tricky business!

Things you want: a dressy-ish outfit that's not too slutty, a swishy skirt, comfy shoes.

Things you don't want: your boobs making a surprise appearance, hair going everywhere, sweat patches.

So to try and tick or cross the right boxes here's what I wore for my most recent attempt at convincing people I have some co-ordination...

What I wore: Top - Miss Selfridge
Skirt - H & M (under £20 in store)
Bag - New Look (old)
Boots - New Look

So there you have it a cute outfit that spins when you do, boots that you dance all night in and a messy up-do that will hang on as long as you can!

I didn't find my Dashing White Sergeant this time (in fact only about 5 fellas were in kilts!) but I had a lot of fun none the less!

Gay Pareeee!

Deciding that we totally deserved a city break before term started after a hard month of festive overeating, Suzi took advantage of her relatives and bagged a week's lodging in her aunt's house in Paris. So off we ran and spent a week fueled by red wine and cheese, and pranced about doing all things poncy and Parisien!

We spent our days ice skating, visiting art galleries and shopping, but mostly sitting in cafes people watching.

Hat - Accessorize
Coat - Vintage
Top - Love
Jumper - Suzi's dad's (Joules I think)

Pretending to be Blair Waldorf in front of Manet's Le déjeuner sur l'herbe, sadly no princes came along, just lots of pushy tourists wanting us to move.

Went to visit some celeb graves, Oscar Wilde's had massive amounts of security #diva. Wore my new coat that I got in a vintage store in the Marais (only 20 euros!) with my Topshop bag, American Apparel shorts and H&M boots.

Stole Suzi's trusty American Apparel jeans for the Salvador Dali exhibition in the Pompidou Centre.

Finished the trip with a night of drinking and hanging out with our French friends who we met in Thailand over the summer. Such a lovely little trip, now bye bye to permanent red wine lips and galleries, and back to Uni life and the library!
