A buy that changed my life #2

This weeks buy is actually 2 buys! Both from the VO5 'Give Me Texture' range. As someone with rather a lot of thick, heavy hair, I'm always looking for products to give me a bit of 'oomph'. I actually first purchased both of these in January but having replaced my empties this week I though I'd let you in on their magic! The 2 that I have are the 'Dry Texturising Spray' and the 'Instant Oomph Powder'.

(apologies for the sketchy photos - Caroline's off out with the camera so I'm making do with my phone)

The spray claims that it gives 'sexy, undone hair that's easy to achieve'. It comes out much like dry shampoo, and to an extent achieves the same refreshing effect. But it also works to separate layers in your hair and give grip, texture and a matte look to your locks. I use it a lot when I've styled my hair into beachy waves or curls and to help keep my fringe looking fresh and clean, but its also handy to use before I put my hair up to get rid of the slipperyness that comes with freshly washed hair.

Basically its dead handy and pretty cheap too, I can't get enough, you can grab some from Boots or Superdrug.

The powder is a bit weird; not in a bad way, just in a 'takes some getting used to' way!
It claims to give 'extra texture and instant volume' and boy does it! A wee sprinkle of this magic stuff in your roots rubbed in (or backcombed if you want it massive) and you've got all the volume you could want. Now be warned, it feels pretty gross when you rub it it, kinda sticky but dry at the same time, but it really does the trick, I can't recommend it enough. Again its great for wearing my hair up or down and really gives my hair grip. Love it.

Also very reasonably priced, and it lasts aaages for such a teeny pot, you can get it at Boots or Superdrug.

Oh, and they both smell AH-MAY-ZING. Let me know what yo think!!

Monochrome 3 ways with ILWF

e-tail PR have hooked up with our favourites at LOVE to offer bloggers £200 store credit in return for a wee post telling them which pieces we love the most. This was an easy one for us as we have been in love with love for years, ever since the gorgeous Gi Fletcher let us in on the secret nearly 3 years ago, one of the very first posts on this blog was dedicated to them!

We've put together a few outfits ranging from a trip down town to occasion wear all bang on trend for this season in clean cut monochrome.

Details:

If you fancy a go all the competition details are here - good luck!!

A buy that changed my life #1

So this is it! Our first regular feature - a buy that changed my life. Now maaaaaybe 'changed my life' might be a bit of a stretch at times (we tend to exaggerate a bit) but basically this is just going to be our favourite purchase each week, it could be anything; clothes, shoes, make up or even a fantastic meal.

Topping the charts this week is my new lipstick. Pretty much once a week we bumble down to the Superdrug store on Byres Road and buy something that many would label 'unnecessary'. In this case those people could not be more wrong. In this tough time of essays, classes and life choices this lipstick has made me a happy woman. One application of this bad boy and my day is brightened, I get a spring in my step - it is THAT good.

Its from Bourjois's new 'Rouge Edition' collection which is available in Superdrug and Boots now.
The colour is just gorgeous, a bright orangey red and the lippy itself is moisturising and long lasting. This is number 10 - Rouge Buzz, but I've also bought number 2 - Beige Trench which is a perfect daytime soft nudey pink. At an introductory price of £5.99 (usually £7.99) these lippies are a total bargain, I wouldn't be surprised if I come back from town tomorrow with another one!!

We've been MIA for a while, we know. Where have you been and what have you been doing we can hear you cry!! Well, truth be told fourth year is starting to break us, we've even started going to the library (not a fun place) and to make up for it we've been stuffing our faces at any free moment. So here's a wee summary of what we've eaten, where we ate it and the little things keeping us sane through these trying times...

Kukee Haul.

Due to erratic dancing (flailing limbs), careless hand washing and terrible eyesight, I own rings for a matter of hours before losing them. I even recently lost my beloved silver pinky ring from my travels in Cambodia, wah. SO, determined to have a fist full of knuckledusters, i have relied on my old favourite Kukee to adorn my fingers.

You also get a little free gift when you spend over £10. This will be my third upper pinky ring from Kukee. Hopefully third time's a charm!

I love large, statement rings although they are the most prone to flying off into the distance while dancing. This Chunky Gemstone Ring however, stretches halfway across my hand and with the gem more on my knuckle rather than finger, distributing the weight (science), it feels pretty secure so I fancy my chances.

I also got the Acrylic White Druzy Ring which I absolutely love. It has the sparkle of shattered gemstone with a matt finish.

I finished the haul with a less obtrusive, Open Above Knuckle Ring which looks great alongside my free gift ring.

I'm happy with my haul, here's hoping I still have them this time next week.
